The Upper Potomac River basin continues to face serious drought conditions this May, with nearly 93% of the watershed classified in severe drought. River flows are hovering near some of the lowest levels recorded in more than 130 years, creating growing concerns across the region. Low water levels are already impacting recreation, wildlife habitat, and overall river health as spring progresses. Officials are monitoring conditions closely, and if dry weather continues, water use restrictions could become possible later this summer.
